while the ant is responsible, hard-working and organized, the grasshopper is
very lazy and irresponsible. Although they belong to the same group of friends,
they do not really get on well with each other, because their characters are so
different.
One day, a bee
in the group is giving a party on a Sunday, but they both have got the
end-of-year Social Science exam on Monday. The ant is not sure about what she
should do, because she does not want to fail the exam, so she decides not to go
to the party and stays revising at home instead.
On the
contrary, the grasshopper is so excited about the party that she does not care
about the exam, and even goes shopping
the same morning to get herself some new clothes.
The next
morning, they gather in the playground at break time, and the ones that have
attended the party are talking about it excitedly, and the grasshopper makes
fun of the ant for being so boring.
After that,
they do the Social Science exam, but the grasshopper can’t answer any of the
questions, so she tries to copy from the ant, who refuses to give her any help.
At the end
of the exam, the grasshopper is very angry with the ant, and reproaches her for
not letting her copy. Then, the ant replies that she also wanted to go to the

going to be, since they have got lots of exams in a few days. Then, the Bee
comes to tell them that she is giving a party in her swimming pool to start the
summer season. They all get very excited and start talking about it at the same
time. The bell rings and most of the people in the group leave for class, but
we can still see the Ant and the Spider on stage, the latter trying to convince
the former to go to the party, since she does not know what to do.
SCENE 2
All the
students are in Social Science class. At the end of the lesson, Mr. Cricket,
the Social Science teacher, reminds them about the date for the end-of-year
exam the next Monday. Students whisper and the Louse asks Mr. Cricket if the
exam could be moved to a different date, but the teacher answers that it is not
possible. The bell rings and the students leave.
SCENE 3
The
Grasshopper, the Wasp and the Bee are in a shopping centre, looking for some
nice clothes to wear at the party. They are discussing about trivial, unimportant
things. Suddenly, they come across the Ant and the Spider, and they ask them if
they are finally attending the party. The Ant replies that she is worried about
the Social Science exam, and that she must study on Sunday, because this will
be the last chance for her to pass the subject in June. The Grasshopper accuses
her of being so boring, and she and her friends go away, laughing.
SCENE 4
Scene at
the Bee’s house. The Grasshopper, the Wasp, the Stick Bug, the Dragonfly, the Spider,
the Butterfly, the Louse, the Beetle and the Bee are playing in the swimming
pool. The Beetle tries to flirt with the Wasp, but she does not pay much
attention to him, she is more interested in talking to the Stick Bug. At the
same time, the Butterfly is trying to catch the Beetle’s attention, but she is
not successful.
The Spider
and the Dragonfly leave the Bee’s house early, but the party still goes on till
late at night.
SCENE 5
Students
are in the Social Science classroom, doing the final exam. The Grasshopper is
sitting behind the Ant, trying to copy from her answers. She asks her one of
the questions, but the Ant does not answer. The Grasshopper repeats the
question, but once again, the Ant does not answer. The exam finishes, and the
students gather in the playground. The Grasshopper, furious, reproaches the Ant
that she did not help her in the exam. The Ant replies that she should have
studied instead of blaming her, because she also wanted to go to the party, but
she didn’t because she wanted to pass the exam and relax during the summer.
